We us a semi- transparent oil based, commercial strength, penetrating sealant. TWP 200. For exotic woods we use Australian Timber Oil or Mesmers. This means you will still see all the natural beauty of your wood, including all the wood grains and knot holes.

This is one of the biggest advantages in having The Atlanta Wood Restoration Company refinish your deck. When it is time to reseal, we lightly pressure wash your deck, and re-coat it. It comes out to perfection. Unlike most sealants, TWP 200 does not have to be stripped off with harsh chemicals prior to each re treatment.

Short answer is no. I am very confident we do the highest quality of work in the Atlanta area. Most of our work is acquired by word of mouth, so we have a natural incentive to make everyone happy. Along with having your return business, as decks are a maintenance issue. However, there is no practical/usable guarantee in this field of work. If another company offers you a guarantee, be sure to ask them exactly what is covered. For example will they come redo your deck free of charge if it appears to be slightly faded in 2 years? Our product is proven to last an average of 3 years in the Atlanta area. Newer decks usually about 1.5 years after the first treatment. Much of this depends on everything from the position of your house, type of wood, how much sun exposure the deck gets, how much usage, how much rain, etc. Be wary of any semi transparent sealant or sealing company that claims the deck sealant will last 5, 7, or 10 years. It isn’t possible.

I tell everyone to stay off of the deck for 24 hours. Many times the deck can be used a few hours afterwards, but I like to make sure clients will not step in a wet spot that can be tracked inside onto the carpet or furniture. Certain jobs, usually decks that had to be stripped of a prior sealant, or screened in porches that do not receive a lot of sun, need a longer time to dry.

The cleaning process can be completed rain or shine. When we seal the deck we will wait for the wood to be dry, a temperature above 40 degrees, and a low chance of rain in the forecast. Depending on the temperature and type of wood, in most cases the sealant will hold up just fine, even if it rains a few hours after the completion of the deck.

No, the underneath of the deck is not sealed. Wood needs to expand and contract, and if water gets into the sides of the floorboards, it will not have an escape route out of the bottom of the wood if it is sealed, and this will actually lead to more cracking and rotting. All of the poles and facia boards are sealed.

Yes, we will move the furniture off of your deck in order to complete the job. Large objects like grills, or large tables, will be left on the deck, and moved from side to side. We do not return a third time to re arrange furniture or put the small items we take off the deck, back on.
